Gastonia is one of only two winners of the 2010 City Livability Award! Presented by the Conference of Mayors at the 78th Annual Meeting in Oklahoma City.
But anyone who lives here could have told you that!
See for yourself all the wonders that Gastonia offers!

Gastonia is a perfect blend of mid-size friendliness and convenience, with friendly people and fun activities! Just join the kids from 8-80 at Martha Rivers Park for soccer, sliding boards, swing sets or walking! It’s a hub for mothers with strollers and anyone who enjoys getting a little exercise!
If you prefer big city amenities, it’s a 25 minute drive to Charlotte! The Charlotte Douglas International Airport is even closer…a 15 to 20 minute drive and the world is at your feet!
For outside fun, visit the US National Whitewater Center (20 minutes), an Olympic training site for Whitewater Slalom Kayaking and a great
resource for family events from whitewater rafting to climbing walls, zip lines and bicycle trails…or flatwater kayaking! Maybe a walk on the Gastonia Greenway would appeal — it’s right in the middle of town! A great place to greet people bicycling, skating, walking or running!
Climb Crowder’s Mountain, only about 15 minutes from downtown Gastonia! If you want to climb the 200+ steps to the top for the view, it’s worth the trip! Or, for the more adventurous, bring your ropes and gear and climb the rock walls of the mountain!

Only 15 minutes from water activities, get your boat and water skis ready for fun on the area lakes! There are numerous boat launches and great venues for picnics any weekend!
For history and culture, visit Gastonia’s Schiele Nature Museum or Belmont’s Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden!
You’ll be hard pressed to find a friendlier destination, where people are truly “down to earth” !
From a housing standpoint, Gastonia offers beautiful homes for sale, boasting new neighborhoods, historic neighborhoods, first time, smaller neighborhoods, as well as homes with acreage!
